The Beginning
Many years ago when I was a young man I was very active and somewhat athletic. I yearned for basketball season and baseball seasons to begin. My passion was basketball and I lived for the thrill of the game. I was rarely seen without a ball in my hand. As a freshman in high school during the basketball season I started to have trouble with my legs mostly my hips, after many tests I was diagnosed with Juvenile Osteoporosis, the Dr. said I would be back on the court in a year if I would agree to major reconstructive surgery on both of my hips. Despite all my efforts to get make a come back it just never happened, my life of basketball was done but I found many new things such as music and computers, which themselves have been great blessings in my life.
I often wonder the type of person I would be today if I had not been exposed to these physical trials I had been dealt. Enough of boo hoo stuff!!! I have found that I can cycle, I have also found that I am quite chubby and need to get into shape for myself and for my family. I have chosen cycling to be my sport because it is low impact on my legs and allows to get the exercise and I need while also inspiring to get better and better. My goal is the ride in the LOTOJA "Logan To Jackson" in 2014, many may say this is an impossible goal in such a little amount of time, but I know if get on a training schedule and find some good people to train with I can do it. It will also help me loose the belly and be a better father an husband. Until next entry.
